WOW。 I am so happy that I kept reading， and that it wasn't disappointing。 This book was SO much better than the first。 Jude was no longer sulking about how much Cardan hated her， about how she so desperately wanted knighthood and to prove herself。 Though these themes do carry over， it is far more intriguing and fitting to her character in the context of the second book。 I could not put this book down。 Started at 1:40AM， finished five hours later。 I found parts where I was smiling because I was g WOW。 I am so happy that I kept reading， and that it wasn't disappointing。 This book was SO much better than the first。 Jude was no longer sulking about how much Cardan hated her， about how she so desperately wanted knighthood and to prove herself。 Though these themes do carry over， it is far more intriguing and fitting to her character in the context of the second book。 I could not put this book down。 Started at 1:40AM， finished five hours later。 I found parts where I was smiling because I was genuinely so excited about what was happening or what I anticipated to happen， parts where I was so sucked into the story that I actually couldn't predict what was going to happen next。 The betrayal， for example， was literally foreshadowed。 I even remember asking myself， "Man， I love the Ghost - but why are so many chapters dedicated to him now？" I could have predicted what was going to happen， but again， I was so drawn in by the story that I didn't even give it a second thought。 Also， Cardan and Jude's relationship has grown ever more interesting。 It was a really smart move for the author to pull everyone in and make it seem as if Jude and Cardan were finally going to get along， only to throw in the ending。 I also noticed that I feel a lot more attached to Jude now。 In the first book， she was a pretty unbearable protagonist， and I only really kept reading because I wanted to see how her and Cardan came to be。 But in the second book， I do think she was redeemed。I was so thrilled by the ending of The Wicked King that as soon as Barnes & Noble opened， I was on my way to buy the Queen of Nothing。 If it is anything like The Wicked King， then I am in for a swell time。 There's so much left to explore :） 。。。more

This ones tough。 It takes me a bit to get into these books but towards the end I get sucked right back in and want to know the rest。 I liked this one more than the first。 Characters feel less angsty， except for Jude， and you can see things are starting to build in the story。 It’s a fun book but a read that I do not take too seriously and will wait to get some other reads in before going back to continue this series。
